NEW 8” DUCTILE IRON WATER MAINS IN EAST WARREN

This summer, the Bristol County Water Authority will be installing some new water mains in east Warren. The work will involve connecting several “dead ends” in our distribution system with the installation of a new 8” ductile iron water main. The objective of this work is to strengthen the distribution system in the east Warren area which will improve water quality and flow.

HOW WILL THIS WORK AFFECT YOU?
Residents in the work areas may have water shutdowns for a short period of time while a valve on the street is replaced. This is typically a onetime shutdown of 4 to 8 hours and you will receive advanced notice before this happens.

Our contractor for this work will be CB Utility Company Inc. of Bristol, RI. If you have any concerns with the workers or BCWA personnel in your neighborhood, do not hesitate to call our office.

PLEASE WATCH YOUR STEP!
You will notice a number of trench openings in the street and pipe being stored at the side of the road. Please watch your step. If you see any potentially hazardous situations, please call us. All trench openings will be filled in and resurfaced at the earliest possible time. All steel road plates, debris and construction materials will be picked up as soon as possible and temporary asphalt patch placed on the trenches. Better permanent patch will be installed after approximately 90 days (or next spring) to allow for settling. Every possible safety precaution will be taken while the project is in progress. All work areas will be barricaded and carefully marked to prevent accidents or injuries. You can help to avoid accidents by cautioning your family and friends to watch their step and avoid the work areas as much as possible.

WHEN AND WHO SHOULD I CALL IF I SEE A PROBLEM?
We really do appreciate it when someone alerts us to a problem with the project – such as a pothole developing or a leaking pipe. If you have a concern, please call us and we’ll answer your questions or remedy a situation as soon as possible. The numbers to call are as follows:

Bristol County Water Authority 245-2022 between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm (Mon – Fri)

WHAT ABOUT PARKING AND ACCESS TO THE STREETS?|
Normally, local access is permitted to residents; however the streets might be restricted to alternating one-way traffic, depending on the type of work going on.

TEMPORARY INCONVENIENCE, PERMANENT IMPROVEMENTS
We realize that there are going to be some inconveniences during the project such as noise, dust, water shutdowns, traffic detours and temporary pavement. We will strive to minimize the inconveniences and annoyances on our customers. However, these inconveniences are short term and minor when looked at in the long term perspective of providing new and upgraded water pipelines that bring drinking water to your homes.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while we work to improve your water system.
