Water Main Replacement in Child Street at the Kickemuit River crossing.
This very critical piece of the Child Street water main is the only supply of water to more than 550 BCWA customers in east Warren.
There is currently an 8” cast iron pipe under the river culvert that was installed over 80 years ago. The condition of this existing cast iron main is unknown. BCWA considered alternative construction methods for replacing the water main and determined that the best method for installing the new pipe was by using hydraulic directional drilling (HDD). A 12” high density polyethylene pipe will be installed under the river using this technique.
The work will be done during the Fall of 2018.
